Emergency Medicine Physician

We re Hiring Emergency Medicine Physicians to work and live in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina!

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (www.WakeHealth.edu) is a nationally recognized academic health system, with an integrated enterprise including educational and research facilities, hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and other primary and specialty care facilities serving 24 counties in northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia.

We are seeking Board Certified / Board Eligible, EM physicians at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone, NC. North Carolina Medical License (or eligibility) required.

The group covers two hospitals. Watauga Medical Center sees ~60 higher acuity patients daily with 29 hour doc coverage and 11 hour NP/PA coverage and is the only hospital in the County with a 3 county catchment area. Cannon Memorial hospital is a critical access facility with ~20-25 daily visits and 24 hours of physician coverage.

The system holds cardiac and stroke certifications with 24/7 cath lab and 24/7 telestroke. On call specialties include general surgery, OBGYN, urology, GI, ortho, ENT, ophthalmology, oncology, cardiology, neurology, hospitalist service, and pediatric hospitalists. Both Watauga and Cannon share a daily behavioral health crisis evaluation team to assist with transfers and disposition planning.

EMR is EPIC beginning in 6/2023. The group is employed by Wake Forest Emergency Providers.

Outdoor activities abound in the area with unrivaled hiking, road/gravel/mountain biking, fly fishing, kayaking/rafting and rock climbing easily accessible. Public schools are among the top ranked in the state and the community is close-knit and supportive. This mountain community also offers proximity to metropolitan Charlotte and Asheville, NC and is the home of the Appalachian State University Mountaineers.
