  • Regional hospital serving Cache Valley, neighboring rural towns, and students/faculty at Utah State University, approximately 148 beds, Level II Trauma Center

• McKay Dee Hospital
  • Midsize regional hospital serving Weber and Davis counties, approximately 310 beds, Level II Trauma center, employment includes rotating at nearby community Layton Hospital

• Intermountain Medical Center
  • Large hospital serving the Salt Lake Valley and neighboring communities and states, approximately 510 beds, Level I Trauma Center, employment includes rotating at nearby community hospitals, Alta View and LDS
• Riverton Hospital
  • Regional hospital serving the southwest end of the Salt Lake Valley and northeast side of Utah Valley, approximately 87 beds, Level IV Trauma Center
• Utah Valley Hospital
  • Large hospital serving the Utah Valley community, approximately 395 beds, Level II Trauma Center, employment includes rotating at nearby community hospitals American Fork to its north and Spanish Fork Hospital to its south

• Cedar City Hospital
  • Regional hospital serving Iron county, neighboring rural towns, and students/faculty at Southern Utah University, approximately 50 beds, Level IV Trauma Center

• St. George Regional Hospital
  • Regional hospital serving the large and growing Southern Utah area including neighboring rural communities and students/faculty at Utah Tech University, approximately 284 beds, Level II Trauma Center

Each of these hospitals have their own general hospitalist programs including; operators, administrators, hospitalists, care coordinators, nurses, and admin staff who collaboratively work together to care for patients in the hospital with a wide array of differing medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries. Hospitalists in these programs work approximately fifteen 12-hour shifts monthly, get paid for shifts in excess of that average, and work amongst their peers to request and cover time off when needed.

We also have a unique approach to caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions. Our Cardiovascular Hospitalists include an independent hospitalist team that works primarily out of the Acute Cardiovascular units on 2 of our hospital campuses. Each team has an excellent culture of collaboration with the cardiovascular specialists and subspecialists with whom they work closely every day. They admit patients coming in with a presumed primary cardiac condition and provide a comprehensive medicine consultative service within the CV unit. They have dedicated CV Intensivists in the building, so there is no ICU care provided by the CV Hospitalist team. They manage most heart failure, acute MI, myopericarditis, primary and secondary arrhythmias admitted. If the patient is found to have a primary medical condition after initial work-up, they continue to manage the patient on their service. Patients are nottransferred to the General Medicine team. The CV Hospitalist patient population covers the whole breadth of Internal Medicine as they work closely with ID, rheumatology, endocrinology, nephrology, pulmonology, GI, and heme/onc, in addition to the CV based specialists. There is no additional or specialized cardiovascular training required to become a CV Hospitalist. Cardiac focused education will be provided with clinical onboarding. Through their career as a CV hospitalist, they are expected to acquire and apply an in depth understanding of cardiovascular disease, treatment, and imaging modalities. Candidates should be ABIM certified and have a passion in caring for cardiovascular patients. Our CV Hospitalists work approximately fifteen 12-hour shifts monthly, get paid for shifts in excess of that average, and work amongst their peers to request and cover time off when needed.
