Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon has the only open heart surgery program in the region, serves as the regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for nine counties in Southern Illinois, and recently launched a new pediatric emergency and NICU telemedicine program in conjunction with the physicians at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
