The Gainesville, FL Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is recruiting for an Endocrinologist. The position is full-time based at the VA, with a required joint faculty appointment in the University of Florida Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. The VA and University program are intimately integrated, and the University teaching hospital is adjacent to the VA Medical Center.
Patient care and supervision of Endocrinology fellows in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient consult rotation, and performance of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirate (FNA) thyroid biopsies as needed. Comprehensive consultative clinic is available for patient referral. Wide range of patients including those with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and non-diabetic endocrine disorders are evaluated and treated.
You will join a large and growing academic Endocrinology Division at the University and you should be competitive for appointment as an academic Endocrinologist. Track record of significant experience in basic and clinical research supported with publications in peer-reviewed journals is highly desired.
Candidate must have postdoctoral research training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, with specific expertise in the use of decision-support tools to improve diabetic care.
Work up, diagnosis, and provision of non-surgical treatment and consultation for both patients admitted and on an outpatient basis.
Treats patients having diseases related to hormones and the endocrinal glands. Common disorders are: thyroid abnormalities, diabetes, hypertension, infertility, cholesterol disorders, and cancers in the endocrinal glands.
Shared on-call responsibility for nights, weekends, and holidays.
