We re seeking a Board-Certified Adolescent Medicine Physician for an exciting opportunity to join Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will develop an adolescent medicine program within Ochsner s Health s regional health system, the largest not-for-profit academic health system in the Gulf South.
This position will include work with:
- Gender Medicine Care:
- Integrate into a multidisciplinary pediatric gender medicine team within a larger gender medicine clinic serving children, adolescents and adults and provide consultation and follow-up care to adolescents.
- Consultation:
- Provide consultation to general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and family medicine physicians to help in the management of adolescents. Those consults will include, but are not limited to:
- High-risk teens: High-risk sexual behavior, drug use, gang/juvenile justice, mental health, and chronic medical conditions with poor adherence
- Complex medical conditions: Conditions that have combined medical/psychosocial etiologies (e.g., chronic fatigue, autonomic disorders, somatization)
- Solid-organ transplants
- Oncology
- Congenital heart disease
- Transgender/gender-expansive youth
- Reproductive health: Contraceptive care, menstrual concerns, sexually transmitted infections/prevention, provision of PrEP
- Substance use and treatment
- Transition from pediatric to adult-based medicine
- Leadership and Education:
- Training and education for medical students and pediatric residents
- Provide consultation and teaching for outpatient and inpatient pediatrics teams regarding the care of adolescents and conditions that present frequently in adolescence
- Provide leadership for and education in adolescent health locally and throughout the Gulf South
- Provide consultation to general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and family medicine physicians to help in the management of adolescents. Those consults will include, but are not limited to:
