Psychiatrist Needed for Locum Tenens Coverage at Treatment Facility in Boston, Massachusetts

A substance abuse treatment facility is seeking a psychiatrist to treat adult patients 24 hours per week.
While in Boston, Massachusetts, you have the opportunity to see one of the most historic cities in the United States. In between all the tours and famous sites, take a trip to Fenway Park or get some seafood at any of the downtown spots like the Union Oyster House that is one of the oldest restaurants still in operation today in the United States.
Patients are adult males, ages 18 years and over. The schedule is 3 days per week/24 hours per week. They are flexible on the days. This is a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. The locum will perform routine mental health exams on inmates referred by nursing, medical professional staff, correctional staff, and social workers, under established guidelines. This is becoming 100% hospital and treatment-oriented, so everyone in the facility will go through the admissions process that includes Psychiatric evaluation, not merely those with a referral from another discipline. The locum will provide psychiatric treatment and orders; studies, tests, referrals, and ancillary services that are required and that are consistent with the medical/psychiatric authoritys commitment to providing basic mental health care services. They will also order medications for mental health needs while adhering to the established formulary and in compliance with Wellpath policies and procedures. They will also evaluate inmates on psychotropic medications and conduct psychotropic medication reviews. Patients are scheduled and as well as on an emergent basis.
