Ancora Psychiatric Hospital has 515 CMS certified beds and an average daily census of approximately 315 adult inpatient clients. We meet the needs of our mentally ill clients in the areas of admissions, acute and chronic psychiatric units, gero-psychiatric units, a sub-acute medical unit, a secure care unit (Forensic), and a dual diagnostic unit for the mentally ill and developmentally disabled. A quiet 80-acre campus located in the South Jersey countryside of Hammonton NJ, we are conveniently located 30 miles from downtown Philadelphia and a mere 35 miles away from the Atlantic City Boardwalk!

As a Physician Specialist 1, you will perform clinical responsibilities in a multidisciplinary mental health setting serving a diverse adult population with mental illness. In addition, you will perform medical specialist functions in accordance with legal and judicial mandates and Patient's Bill of Rights and technical applications to meet The Joint Commission's and other accreditation bodies' standards.

Additional responsibilities include providing integrated healthcare care from admission to discharge by collaborating with the Treatment Team; managing day-to-day medical problems and prompt referral for both In-House and Community specialty providers from diagnostic to acute to preventative care; providing timely communication with patient’s families/guardians following a medical emergency, community hospitalization, acute injury, or status updates; providing detailed shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of care amongst physicians; responding to medical emergencies and provide comprehensive critical care for acute medical conditions

Qualified candidates will have

  • State of New Jersey medical license
  • Completion of medical internship or equivalent
  • Three years specialty training
  • Two years clinical experience in the practice of the clinical specialty
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of the specialty
  • Demonstrated competence in hospital practice
  • Credentials Committee or equivalent recommendation
  • Approval by the Central Office Board of Professional Standards

NOTE: This position is covered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Rule and Executive Order 283, requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated.
