Neurology General Stroke, Lewiston, NY - at Mount St. Mary's Hospital CATHOLIC HEALTH

Catholic Health is recruiting for a Board Certified Neurologist for a full time role in our Niagara County site at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in idyllic Lewiston, NY. The position will involve inpatient coverage of general neurology and stroke neurology.

  • Provide general and stroke neurology inpatient care for neuroscience patients
  • Provide both ER and service coverage on call, 24 hours a day/7 days per week, according to a mutually agreed upon schedule in advance
  • Participates in sharing of knowledge and expertise through in-services, staff meeting and assisting in Orientation of new personnel
  • Participate in Catholic Health System Department and Divisional activities as appropriate
  • Participation on appropriate clinical committees
  • Serves as the collaborating and supervising physician for the Neuroscience Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants


  • Graduation from an Accredited School of Medicine
  • Completion of Neurology residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Board certified or eligible in Neurology
  • Candidate must have current, unrestricted, New York State license or NYS Licensure in progress and active on date of hire
  • The candidate must have current, unrestricted federal, and as needed, state prescriptive authority.
  • CPR Certified
  • ACLS Certified

Stroke care and education is very developed at Mount St. Mary's. There is an extensive EMS liaison program that works with the local EMS providers as our partners with the Sim Vehicle to educate them on stroke and the capabilities. The hospital works with EMS in the community, and they have the opportunity to connect directly with the Hospitals and very soon even to the Stroke Neurologist while still on the scene. When they arrive at the hospital the stroke team will have already been activated, and through the use of Artificial Intelligence, the stroke team can get a recommendation on how to treat quickly. If the patient is a candidate for advanced intervention then helicopter transport is available to a JCAHO Accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, Mercy Hospital, where Bi-Plane cath labs and Stroke Critical Care Units services are available.
