Tower Health is seeking an Occupational Medicine Physician to join our very busy and collaborative department at Reading Hospital in West Reading Pennsylvania. The Employee Health practice supports Reading Hospital and 7000+ employees and clears 1200+ new employees each year for hiring. The new physician must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Occupational Medicine.

Tower Health & Drexel University College of Medicine have partnered to open a brand-new medical school 1/2 miles from the Reading Hospital campus. The medical school opened in July 2021; and is currently enrolling the second graduating class. In 2024 will enroll 200 medical students.

Job Summary

Practice/Duties:

  • Exclusively occupational medicine practice, full service. Hospital campus clinic serves 7,000 Reading Hospital employees
  • Perform regulatory and preplacement physicals and fitness for duty evaluations
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate healthy patients with work-related illnesses and injuries including a wide variety of orthopedics, lacerations, blood-borne pathogens exposures, exposure to infectious disease, etc. and utilize light duty programs for return to work
  • Evaluate requests for exemption from required vaccinations and provide Employee Health consultation for the hospital's 7000 employees.
  • Interpret audiograms for hearing conservation program
  • Perform OSHA respirator clearance examinations
  • Evaluate exposure to a variety of hazardous occupational exposures and hospital-related infections

Schedule:

  • Full-time position, Monday-Friday
  • No on-call requirements
  • No holidays or weekends

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • MD/DO
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania
  • Must have completed a residency program and be BC/BE in Occupational Medicine
  • Will consider BC/BE in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine with several years' experience and/or formal training in Occupational Medicine
  • NRCME (DOT) medical examiner certification or willing to obtain certification (will train if necessary)
  • Medical Review Officer certification or willing to obtain certification (will train if necessary)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and PA workers comp law are a plus
