The Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of inherited retinal disorders and genetics of eye disease. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. American Board of Ophthalmology certification is required for MD/PhD candidates who desire to provide patient care.

Teaching responsibilities may include medical student and resident teaching in inherited retinal diseases.

Clinical responsibilities may include medical care of inherited retinal diseases.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing a program in gene editing for ophthalmic disorders with research that will lead to clinical trials for genetic therapies for these disorders. NIH funding is expected, as is an international reputation and an exceptionally strong publication history.
