The Department of Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System is seeking a Full-time Physician(Cardiologist) at our Brooklyn campus. The position requires outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to patients with Cardiovascular Diseases; the interpretation of stress tests, tilt table tests, echocardiograms, and electrocardiograms; and supervision of Cardiology Fellows and Internal Medicine Residents. Expertise to develop and engage in clinical research is highly desirable. In addition, the incumbent will have clinical responsibilities to the Medical Service, including preceptor to third year medical students and additional ad hoc clinical, teaching, and administrative assignments as may be required by the Chief of the Medical Service. The Brooklyn Campus of NYHHS is a major teaching affiliate of State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, and the successful candidate will be appointed at SUNY Downstate at an academic level commensurate his or her experience. The candidate must have completed three years of Internal Medicine training in an accredited program, as well as a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases.
Salary: $200,000- $348,000
Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay)
- Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. - Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
