The Department of Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Gastroenterology physician at its campus in Brooklyn, New York. The position requires outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to patients with GI disorders, participation in the inpatient Gastroenterology consultation service, supervision of Gastroenterology fellows, and participation in multi-disciplinary and also multi-facility Tumor Boards. GI motility and IBD interest preferred but not mandatory. Expertise to develop and engage in clinical research is desirable. In addition, the incumbent will have clinical responsibilities to the Medical Service, including preceptor to third year medical students and additional ad hoc clinical, teaching and administrative assignments as may be required by the Chief of the Medical Service. The Brooklyn Campus of NYHHS is a major teaching affiliate of State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, and the successful candidate will be appointed at SUNY Downstate at an academic level commensurate with his or her experience.
The candidate must have completed three years of Internal Medicine training in an accredited program, as well as a fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology. Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Board Eligibility or Certification in Gastroenterology are required. He/she must be licensed in any state.
