The VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is seeking a board certified or eligible psychiatrist with particular interest in treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring disorders. Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic is home to the largest PTSD team in VANCHCS and offers an excellent opportunity for the incumbent to provide outpatient care through an interdisciplinary team approach, treating adults individually and/or in a group setting. The incumbent conducts history, physical exams and mental status exams; completes assessments and formulates diagnosis; develops and presents treatment plans to the multidisciplinary team; and orders all lab and radiological assessments. The psychiatrist performs psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated in the treatment plan and maintains effective and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters. They psychiatrist will participate in on-call coverage for VA NCHCS inpatient units and may provide some outpatient care in the General Mental Health clinic. The incumbent may also perform other duties as assigned within their scope of practice.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm; Alternate Tour of duty may be required to include evening hours and weekends
CANDIDATE MUST BE: 1) US Citizen, 2) Board Eligible/Certified in Psychiatry, and 3) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any state. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Board Certified in Psychiatry
