NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The Internal Medicine Residency program at Cayuga Medical Center is a primary care program with a considerable focus on community health. Located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA), the Residency Program Director will work with residents, faculty, and staff to ensure the program succeeds in achieving its mission to train exceptional general internists who are skilled in providing high quality, coordinated, comprehensive and compassionate primary health care to adults in any health care setting and are prepared to practice in areas of physician workforce shortages addressing health inequities. Only in its fourth year of operations, the Director will have considerable influence in the further development and direction of the program. A successful applicant will have a meaningful desire to materially impact the community the program serves.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES

  • Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Must have a minimum of three years of educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Program as a member of the faculty or leadership team.
  • Must have previous leadership/administrative experience
  • Must be willing to combine administrative and clinical teaching responsibilities (50/50)
  • Must have strong administrative and team building skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Authority and accountability for the operation of the Internal Medicine residency program
  2. Development of curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program
  3. Obtaining and maintaining ACGME accreditation and state approval
  4. Providing leadership and professional development for program faculty
  5. Recruitment of residents into the program
  6. Participate in competency evaluations of residents
  7. Initiation and monitoring of any resident remediation processes
  8. Oversite of the program evaluation committee and program improvements
  9. Participate in faculty recruitment and retention
  10. Additional responsibilities to ensure program of excellence
  11. Maintenance of an effect resident mentoring program
  12. Oversite and delivery of resident wellness initiatives
