Faculty Physician - Advanced Gastroenterologist
The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board certified/eligible Advanced Gastroenterology who is clinically and academically focused on bariatric medicine and related endoscopic interventions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on an academic track (specific track to be determined by qualifications and interest).
We currently have five expert advanced endoscopists, each with their own academic interests including complex pancreas and biliary diseases, third space endoscopy, technique and device innovation and therapeutic luminal interventions.
The ideal candidate will have excellent advanced endoscopy skills including endoscopic suturing and a focused clinical and academic interest in medical management of obesity and bariatric endoscopy.
This position will work closely with our nationally recognized, NIH funded minimally invasive surgical group to improve the care of our bariatric population.
EUS and ERCP skills will be utilized with opportunities to grow the practice in community settings.
It is expected that an applicant will have completed their training with a strong record of clinical service, clinical research and teaching.
In addition, the candidate is expected to have demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, and engage in national GI professional societies, as well as have a publication record to portend strong academic potential.
We are a forward-looking division, which adopts the roles of Nutrition and GI Health Psychology in providing care for our patients as well as developing research programs in these aspects of gastroenterology practice. We believe in team science and collaboration with basic researchers across our large University.
We offer academic tertiary care with established fellowships in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Advanced Endoscopy and Hepatology fellowships.
We operate in state-of-the-art facilities including newly built clinics and endoscopy suites.
Position is based at the M Health Fairview Clinic and Surgery Center and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, in Minneapolis.

About the Division:
Our division is home to an internationally-recognized group of experts with interests in medical and endoscopic management of complex pancreas/biliary disorders. Moreover, the division includes one of the longest standing liver transplant programs in the United States involved with over 100 yearly liver transplantations. Our general gastroenterology group continues to grow, now with experts in all subfields including esophagology, inflammatory bowel, microbiota, and artificial intelligence, among others. The division has made a number of ground-breaking contributions in the fields of hepatology, advanced endoscopy, general gastroenterology and nutrition, and generates important basic scientific findings in liver metabolism. We continue to maintain the highest ambitions for excellence in all three of its major missions: patient services, teaching, and research.
Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training program.
Board eligible/certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA.
