Tenured and Tenure-Track Professor, Open Rank, School of Medicine, MizzouForward

Job Description

The University of Missouri School of Medicine – Columbia (MU SOM) seeks applications from and nominations for outstanding research faculty candidates. This appointment is part of MizzouForward, the most important strategic investment to achieve research excellence in the history of the university.  See more about this transformational effort here

We want to engage with renowned researchers across the entire spectrum of medicine and have the resources and infrastructure to support all types of (T1 – T4) research. We are particularly interested in candidates who focus on areas where we plan to continue to expand, including: neurology, cardio-metabolic disorders, cancer, reproductive and women’s health, child health and infectious diseases. Candidates with extramurally funded research success in categories that are beyond those listed above, are also strongly encouraged to apply.

With Schools and Colleges of Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions, Law and Journalism on one campus, MU SOM has the unique ability to enhance and accelerate research.

MU School of Medicine

As the first publicly supported medical school west of the Mississippi River, the MU School of Medicine has improved health, education, and research for more than 170 years. More Missouri physicians have received their medical degrees from MU than from any other university in Missouri. The SOM’s more than 700 faculty physicians and scientists educate more than 1,000 medical students, residents, fellows, and other students seeking advanced degrees, as well as more than 1,000 undergraduate students each semester. The school is divided into 18 clinical departments and five basic science departments, that all share a mission to conduct and accelerate research, offer outstanding medical education and serve our diverse communities.

Building on a doubling of AAU Phase 1 awards over the last four years, the SOM continues to expand research along the entire clinical and translational spectrum. MU School of Medicine has a strong partnership with MU Health Care, a $1.4 billion clinical enterprise that is co-located on the AAU member and flagship campus of the University of Missouri System in Columbia, MO.
