Cedars-Sinai seeks a dynamic, distinguished leader to serve as its inaugural Vice Dean, Health Sciences Education. The Vice Dean is responsible for all education programs within Cedars-Sinai encompassing medical, research and all related education programs. The Vice Dean will serve as a catalyst and guiding force, providing vision and leadership around institutional strategic planning for educational activities, to fulfill the Cedars-Sinai mission of training physician-scientists, academic clinicians, and scientists focused on advancing basic, translational and clinical sciences, and health professionals.

Cedars-Sinai is committed to advancing interprofessional models of health professions education and health care delivery. With a growing portfolio of degree granting programs including PhD and MS programs, the Vice Dean will lead efforts to advance and integrate the health system's mission of educating health care and research professionals to become leaders in their respective disciplines. This will include leadership in consolidating all academic programs, resources, faculty in their role as teachers and mentors, enrollment management and student affairs. The Vice Dean will serve as chief advisor to the EVP, Dean of the Faculty on academic, faculty and student matters and will lead the development of future academic programs with a focus on clinical education and health care workforce needs both regionally and nationally.
The Vice Dean serves as the academic leader in charge of all graduate programs and academic operations system wide for Cedars-Sinai's interdisciplinary Ph.D. program and its master's degree programs. The Vice Dean is responsible for promoting the academic success of all graduate students and postdoctoral researchers; advocating for excellence in clinical and graduate research and education; championing equity, diversity and inclusion for the graduate and postdoctoral communities. They will help lead the fulfillment of the Cedars-Sinai research and educational missions; and support residents, fellows, graduate students and postdocs in their mentorship and professional development as scholars and in preparation for a wide range of health science related careers.
Candidates for the Vice Dean position will hold an MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent degree(s) with a record of demonstrated administrative experience, teaching, research/scholarship and service to qualify for faculty appointment at the rank of full Professor. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience working in a complex, highly matrixed academic environment, and a commitment to Cedars-Sinai's mission for clinically based learning, graduate medical and PhD education and to interprofessional training.
