The Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks board-certified or eligible oncology hospitalists in the Clinician Educator Line, based at Stanford Health Care’s Palo Alto campus. The hospitalists will care for active cancer patients, who are admitted with acute medical issues, on a new direct care hospitalist team. New positions are available by July 1, 2023. The initial appointment will be as Clinical Instructor with continued career growth opportunities.
The successful candidate will attend on the inpatient service for 6-7 months annually (1 week on/1 week off scheduling), without outpatient clinic responsibilities. Candidates with particular interests in oncology or other subspecialty work are highly desirable. Clinician Educators are expected to devote a proportion of time educating others about their field of medicine; for this position, education will be for predominantly nurses and ancillary staff.
The Division of Oncology has close ties to the Stanford Cancer Institute, which is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center with world-renowned research and expert cancer care for patients with all major cancer types. Successful candidates will have the opportunity if desired to participate in research opportunities in oncology or other subspecialties, but these activities are not required.
The major criterion for appointment, reappointment, and promotion for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
Candidates must have an MD and be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford welcomes applications from all who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching, and clinical missions.
Applications will be reviewed beginning October 3, 2022, and accepted until positions are filled. Candidates should submit a brief letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, and one reference letter to:
