Section Chief, Cardiology
Oversees the clinical and administrative activities of the Section of Cardiology.
Recruits and retains cardiologists with specific skills necessary to develop and maintain a high quality and broad spectrum of cardiovascular services including general cardiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, special cardiology such as transesophageal echo and nuclear cardiology, as well as imaging including the use of MRI and CAT scans, electrophysiological services, diagnostic and interventional vascular services, and when appropriate, open heart surgical services,
Improves existing and develops new cardiovascular programs for the Hospital.
Monitors the outcomes and quality of care in existing programs.
Develops and maintains a working relationship with hospitals and facilities outside of the Hospital to make available as needed, services such as open heart surgery, valve replacement, cardiac transplantation, etc. in a timely fashion so as to provide as near as possible seamless continuity of care.
Develops continuing medical education programs for attending staff, resident staff, nursing, Allied personnel staff, patient education programs, grand rounds, and the Kyle Swisher Day of Cardiology. Other programs may also be developed periodically as needed.
Develops and refines treatment protocols for specific cardiovascular illnesses such as acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, etc.
Develops physician coverage for critical services offered to Hospital patients including administrative coverage, C-Port coverage, clinic coverage, graphics laboratory coverage, EKG coverage, etc.
