UTRGV OB/GYN Residency Program Director
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine (UTRGV SOM) is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, full-time faculty member to serve as Residency Program Director (PD) of the UTRGV OB/GYN Residency Program at Doctors Hospital Renaissance (DHR), located in Edinburg in the Rio Grande Valley on the South Texas Border. Rank will be Assistant/Associate/Full Professor depending on qualifications.
The selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the residency program as described by ACGME specialty requirements in OB/GYN, and according to CREOG residency program director job description; information is available on respective web sites.
This position is an exciting and unique opportunity to continue to build a relatively new residency program in a busy clinical setting, while providing ample experience in all areas of the specialty. The selected candidate will work closely with the Chair of the Department to develop an outstanding program with a focus on the educational needs of individual residents. The PD will be provided .50 FTE time for administration of the program and remaining .50 FTE time will be expected to maintain an active clinical practice in General OB/GYN or a subspecialty to include resident and medical student clinical instruction. There is ample opportunity for involvement in scholarly activities including curriculum development, interprofessional education, and population health. Clinical research opportunities are also available.
Minimum qualifications include current Board certification by the American Board of Ob/Gyn in General Ob/Gyn, and if subspecialty trained, must also be Board certified in the subspecialty. Must possess, or be eligible for a Texas medical license, and be qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Ob/Gyn UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. Must have at least five years of experience teaching residents, and demonstration of a strong commitment to resident education. An area of clinical interest or expertise is desirable but not required. Must be eligible to practice medicine in the State of Texas. Must be Board Certified in OB/GYN and subspecialty (if applicable). Experience as a Residency Program Director or Assistant/Associate Residency Program Director is preferred.
