What We’re Seeking:
- Must be BC/BE in Nephrology
- Outstanding patient care qualities, highly motivated with an interest to grow their practice
- Patient-focused and willing to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Ability to obtain a medical license to practice in the state of New Mexico
Clinic responsibilities:
- Monday – Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Patient will be a mix of new patients and follow-up patients. New patients are blocked out for 30-40 minutes and follow-up patients are blocked out for 15-20 minutes.
- Administrative time is built into the schedule and allows physicians to follow up on patient calls, records, charting, etc.
Inpatient responsibilities:
- The incoming Nephrology physician will be required to take ten days of 24-hour renal consult each month.
- The Nephrology physician will be required to provide renal consults on non-call days Monday-Friday from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Dialysis responsibilities:
- Will be required to round on dialysis shift Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Plains Regional Medical Center and the High Plains Facility
- Typically, a total of 85 patients at both facilities per week.
- Requirement to round on peritoneal dialysis patients Thursdays or Fridays usually the second or third week of the month.
- Responsible for first response to PD and HD nurse needs when patient issues arise (change in dialysis bath, dry weight, medication doses, access referral, etc.)
- Weekly assessment of dialysis access using the access flow parameters (transonic), access pressure, and physical exams while on dialysis and referrals to access centers
