Position Description
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle is seeking multiple full-time faculty members at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level for an academic appointment without tenure. UW Medicine is the premier academic medical center in Washington state, encompasses 4 hospitals in the Seattle metro area, and is the primary referral hospital for the five-state WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region. The department supports a residency program, three fellowship programs, and is a major teaching site for UW medical students.
The UW Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine provides a full scope of clinical opportunities including caring for the most complicated maternal and fetal conditions in a diverse patient population; access to an extremely high acuity labor floor; collaborations with a broad range of subspecialists; and a growing fetal therapy program. These opportunities will be predominantly at the UW Montlake Campus in Seattle; however, the division also provides care at five satellites each week, round-the-clock Labor & Delivery coverage, and a large telemedicine program.
UW has a strong record of supporting academicians. Specifically, the department of OB/Gyn and the division of MFM have a robust record of securing grant funding and supporting educational programs. As such, there are opportunities for protected time for scientific and educational pursuits.
Candidates must possess excellent clinical skills, competency in outpatient obstetrical imaging, comfort in high-volume inpatient and outpatient clinical practices, a commitment to teamwork and team building, and a commitment to excellence in medical education. Academic activities of the candidate will be centered in the commitment to education and/or research consistent with the mission of UW Medicine to improve the health of the public. The successful candidate will benefit from the rich clinical environment and the strong interdisciplinary culture that exists within our department and the broader UW community.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington is committed to an inclusive environment and to reducing inequities in patient care through education, research, leadership, and excellence in clinical care. We strongly believe that diversity enriches training, scientific discovery and promotes the best healthcare. The University of Washington, a Recipient of the 2006 Alfred P. Sloan award for Faculty Career Flexibility, is committed to supporting the work-life balance of its faculty.
