Description:

Find your calling in practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, where we offer the perfect balance of providing OB/GYN patient care, teaching future physicians in the heart of the Midwest, and enjoying the benefits of a flexible work/life program.

We are located in Peoria, Illinois – a city with all the urban amenities, minus the traffic. Peoria boasts a vibrant arts scene, minor league baseball and hockey, the largest park district in Illinois, an airport with 11 direct destinations, dozens of miles of walking/biking paths, two symphony orchestras, a large civic arena with national touring Broadway musicals and concerts, and a low cost of living. The Peoria metro area is home to 375,000 people, and about two hours’ drive from both downtown Chicago and St. Louis.

Our growing and diverse team of a dozen physician faculty offers a great range of experience, support, autonomy, and camaraderie. Education and career growth, including research and scholarship, is highly encouraged with annual stipends and paid time off for professional development. Our flexible scheduling provides 24-hour post-call time off following a 24-hour labor and delivery shift during the week, and weekend 24-hour shifts come with an additional, consecutive day off, so you do not lose your weekend. Because of our size and reach, we can tailor a position to your interest and expertise.

The University of Illinois System provides generous paid leave, enrollment in the State University Retirement System pension, including malpractice coverage.

Practice locations include two hospital systems just a few blocks apart that serve a diverse urban and rural patient base population of more than 2 million people across Illinois; and two outpatient Federally Qualified Health Clinics, both within a 2-minute drive, that care for the medically underserved as part of the Residency Training Program.

Academic offices are connected to a quaternary care hospital with a Level I Trauma Center, one of the most comprehensive neuroscience centers in the Midwest, and the largest children’s hospital in downstate Illinois. Faculty also have access to a world-class medical simulation center.

Peoria is a regional campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, which is among the largest and most diverse public medical schools in the U.S. The Peoria OB/GYN residency program accepts up to four residents per year, and faculty teach about 80 medical students annually.

Our goal is to attract physician faculty who will enrich the medical education experience of our enthusiastic and dedicated residents and students.
