The University of Texas Medical Branch, Department of Medicine is currently recruiting a Vice-Chair for Community-based Clinical Programs, to be based at our Clear Lake and League City Campuses.  This new Vice-Chair will play a crucial role in integrating our academic and clinical missions across our rapidly growing UTMB Health network.  The Vice-Chair will be expected to build strong relationships with community-providers working at our sites and serve as a key Departmental leader charged with advancing our clinical and educational missions.  The Vice-Chair will work closely with the Chair of Medicine, Dr. Peter Cram, as well as the CEOs of the Clear Lake and League City campuses as a champion for quality, care coordination, and professionalism.  The Vice-Chair will collaborate with Department of Medicine Division Chiefs to build and integrate our clinical programs across all sites.

Competitive applicants will possess an MD or DO degree with 57 years of progressive leadership experience in clinical operations in either the inpatient or outpatient setting.  Exceptional candidates will also have advanced training in quality/safety, healthcare administration, or medical education.  The Vice-Chair will be expected to have an active clinical practice at either the Clear Lake or League City campus in either the inpatient or outpatient setting to establish him/herself as a credible leader.  He/she will also have opportunities to participate in the full spectrum of academic activities available to UTMB faculty including research, teaching, quality improvement, and patient care.  Candidates must have completed training at a LCME approved medical school, have completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency, be eligible for a Texas license, and be board certified in Internal Medicine and/or a relevant Medicine subspecialty. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
