Join us as we launch a new OB/Gyn Hospitalist program at Sibley Memorial Hospital – Johns Hopkins Medicine, in Washington, DC.  

Members of our hospitalist team will provide 24/7 coverage with an average of 6 twenty-four hour shifts a month.   Responsibilities include primary support of our Maternal Health Access Program deliveries, unassigned OB and gynecology patients and advocacy of quality and safety initiatives on the unit.   The OB/Gyn Hospitalist team will also be available to facilitate patient care for our community physicians on Labor and Delivery, including first assist for cesareans, initial care in acute situations and occasional triage.  

Successful team members are comfortable managing emergencies in both Obstetrics and Gynecology, but have the flexibility to work in a supportive role when appropriate.   They practice evidence-based care in a collaborative manner, and are champions for patient safety and health care equity. 

Sibley Memorial Hospital is a proud partner of Johns Hopkins Medicine.   Our OB/Gyn Hospitalist team will be hired by Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as Clinical Associates, but be based in Women’s and Infant’s Services at Sibley in DC.    This is a .75-1.0 FTE position with full benefits.

The Clinical Associate will report to the Medical Director who reports directly to the Vice President of Medical Affairs of Sibley Memorial Hospital and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) Department Director of Gynecology and Obstetrics or their designees. The Clinical Associate will collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Director of Operations, and Chairperson of Women and Infant Services to advance quality, safety, operational, and patient-centered care initiatives for Sibley Memorial Hospital. In addition, the Clinical Associates will form collaborative working relationships with the community obstetricians and JHUSOM maternal-fetal medicine providers to support patient care needs, drive quality and safety initiatives, and promote operational efficiency.

The Clinical Associate must have the ability to work closely with hospital administration and nursing leadership and School of Medicine leadership to advance initiatives to support the highest level of quality, safety, and operational efficiency for the service line.  The Clinical Associate will be a Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics’ Clinical Associate, and a member of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Senior Staff and faculty member appointment consistent with academic rank commensurate with experience.
