The Stanford Department of Pathology seeks an academic neuropathologist. In addition to diagnostic and teaching responsibilities in neuropathology, the successful candidate also may contribute to investigative pathology or other subspecialty areas within surgical pathology, molecular pathology, or autopsy pathology. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line.

The major criteria for appointment in the University Medical Line are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. There are many opportunities for University Medical Line faculty to develop independent or collaborative programs in clinical, translational or basic research. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications, experience, and interests of the successful candidate.

Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel laureate, multiple members of the National Academies, and many other investigators with national and international distinctions. In conjunction with its outstanding research program, the Division of Neuropathology is responsible annually for over 1300 neurosurgical, neuromuscular, and consultative specimens and over 600 ophthalmic pathology specimens, and educates outstanding graduate students, residents and fellows.

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and Neuropathology (or equivalent qualification) and must hold an MD or MD/PHD and hold or acquire a license to practice medicine in the State of California.
