SAVAHCS offers a broad range of cardiology services including electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. The division makes a significant contribution to the VA teaching mission. There is infrastructure to facilitate participation in clinical trials.

This is a great opportunity to provide clinical care in an ethical environment, to work with talented and dedicated colleagues, to train the next generation of cardiology providers and to advance the frontier of cardiology knowledge while living in a wonderful city with the cultural enhancements of the state's main University campus.

As the clinical champion of heart failure care, clinical expertise and collaboration skills will be essential. Superb clinical care is always the top priority in the VA mission. This position requires expertise in pre- and post-transplant care including the medical management of mechanical circulatory devices. Board certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology is preferred. The position requires both independent care of heart failure patients and leading the efforts of the division in this area. Participation in the general cardiology consult service is required. If the candidate has fellowship training in interventional cardiology, that will be considered an additional asset. There will be an opportunity for interested candidates to participate in echocardiogram interpretation and other graphics interpretation.

The incumbent will also contribute responsibly to the supervision and training of fellows, residents and medical students from University of Arizona College of Medicine rotating through the Cardiology Division. SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy; medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at the facility. Therefore, the selected candidate must also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Like all cardiology division members, the candidate must maintain American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification. The selected candidate is expected to support compliance with rules and regulations of the agency, facility and department.
