Hospitalist opportunity in Lexington, Virginia

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Full-time BC/BE hospitalist to work at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital.

Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Lexington, Virginia offering inpatient and outpatient care as well as outreach activities. We also offer an extended care recovery program (Swing Bed) that gives eligible patients an opportunity to grow stronger before going home.

Daytime hospitalist coverage ( 7 on/7 off ; 8a-8p) with 1 Physician and 1 Advanced care provider (NP/PA). ACP (NP/PA) covers nights with backup. Duties including, but not limited to H&P, rounding, ordering, prescribing, discharging, and consulting on a variety of patients in the acute care setting. Average daily census of 20; candidate will be responsible for 6-8 patients daily. As part of our collaborative healthcare team, candidate will have opportunity to deliver essential access to high-quality healthcare in a rural community, while benefitting from being part of a large academic non-profit health system. On-site are 24/7 emergency services, imaging and lab diagnostics, rehabilitation, Fit for Life, and other outpatient services. The hospital s imaging area includes nuclear medicine, digital mammography, 64-slice CT, bone densitometry and ultrasound. Carilion Clinic general surgery physicians are on staff, as are specialty physicians for Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology and Orthopaedics. AHA BLS & ACLS required.

Carilion Clinic is a 7 hospital health system. Level 1 trauma center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is located in Roanoke, 1 hour from Lexington. This provides convenience to transfer patients to a higher level of care within the health system. Tele ICU consult coverage is available 24/7 for critically ill patients.
