Palliative Care Physician

Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), a not-for-profit community health system serving over 1,200,000 people, is currently recruiting a physician to join our Palliative Care service line. NGHS is now a four-hospital system that totals over 700 beds. NGMC-Gainesville (557-beds), NGMC-Braselton (200-beds) and NGMC-Barrow (56-beds), NGMC-Lumpkin (40-beds).  

Opportunity Details:

• Inpatient Palliative Care Team currently consists of two (2) Physicians and two (2) Nurse Practitioners, Social Worker and Chaplain
• Will work collaboratively with physician, nurse practitioners, other consultants and primary team, as well as an interdisciplinary team including Social Worker, Case Management and chaplain
• Will participate in the initial consults, develop and implement care
• Community education and outreach
• Schedule is Monday through Friday; 8am-5pm
• Call is 1:5
• Provides palliative care consultations within the hospital
• Acts as a liaison between specialty consultants and primary attending staff to ensure high quality care.
• Recently approved for ACGME certified Hospice and Palliative Care fellowship program schedule to welcome fellows in 2023

Requirements:

• Board certified/eligible in Hospice/Palliative Medicine
• Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship, preferred but not required
• Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team preferred
• Experience with collaboration and supervision of Advanced Practice Professionals preferred
• Willing to participate in staff, volunteer and physician palliative care education
• Current state medical license and in good standing with medical board.

**The ideal candidate will possess a mature, warm and patient personality with a passion for palliative medicine and care. Flexibility and compassionate bedside manner are essential. Must be a self-starter who takes initiative to work collaboratively with Interdisciplinary Team.

Qualifications:

• Fellowship trained in Palliative Medicine desired
• Board certified/eligible in Hospice/Palliative Medicine
