Reporting to the COVID-19 Emerging Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (CEI&AR) Program Senior Epidemiologist Supervisor, this Physician 3 position is a lead antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) policy advisor for cost-effective, quality healthcare and prevention services in the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAIAR) Section. As the AMS Physician Lead, you will work closely with the AMS Pharmacist, AMS Coordinator and MDRO Medical Epidemiologist.
The purpose of Department of Health led AMS efforts is to ensure that Washington makes progress towards national goals for judicious use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents in all healthcare settings. As the AMS Physician Lead, you will provide overall leadership of AMS projects and serve as an expert consultant on stewardship questions for the state with a goal of strengthening or building stewardship programs in targeted healthcare facilities. You will lead and direct all AMS stewardship planning, project implementation, and program evaluation, and act as primary liaison between local and state health departments, HAI/AR Coordinator, healthcare facilities, CDC, professional societies and other community partners with regards to AMS. Duties may include providing AMS education, performing program evaluation, guiding data analyses, completing reports and disseminating findings to the appropriate stakeholders.
This a part-time (50%), homebased in Tumwater, project Physician 3 position and is located within the Division of Disease Control and Health Statistics, in the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology. This project position is currently funded through July 31, 2024. Some duties of this position may require an on-site and/or in person presence.
