Division Chief, Associate or Professor - Infectious Diseases Faculty – Norfolk, VA
Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is recruiting a full-time board-certified Infectious Diseases physician to serve as the Division Chief of Infectious Diseases.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary with demonstrated operational and leadership skills, a recognized clinician, and reputable educator with a collaborative approach and ability to navigate complex systems. He/she will promote education and research collaborations across the institution and community, attract and develop diverse and qualified faculty, oversee clinical and administrative activities of the Division, and enhance the education of medical students, residents and fellows in inpatient and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will be a physician-educator or physician-scientist with a well-established history of academic commitment and mentorship. Qualified candidates will have credentials and experience at the level of an Associate Professor or Professor. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Virginia Medical license and DEA are required.
The EVMS Division of Infectious Diseases is well established and highly respected in the region. The Division has a strong commitment to outstanding clinical care, education, and innovative research. The Division also has ACGME-accredited ID and ID-Critical Care fellowship programs, offering a rich educational environment. Division faculty serve important roles including Internal Medicine Clerkship Director, medical directors of the Antimicrobial Stewardship and the Infection Control Program, and provide clinical services for the Ryan White HIV Program. The faculty also staff a diverse outpatient infectious diseases practice including Hep C management, outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT), travel medicine, complex tuberculosis treatment, and management of patients with multi-drug resistant pathogens at Lake Taylor Hospital, a long-term acute care facility. Inpatient consultations are provided at the affiliated 525-bed acute care hospital. This is a level 1 trauma center and is the flagship hospital for all of the regional affiliated hospitals in Hampton Roads.
