VICE CHAIR OF MEDICAL STAFF AFFAIRS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF OBGYN

Prisma Health, the largest not for profit healthcare provider in South Carolina, seeks a visionary and enthusiastic leader to serve as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs within the Department of OBGYN. The ideal candidate will have Associate or Professor level experience.

This position functions as a departmental executive leader overseeing all medical staff affairs to include credentialing, maintenance of certification, clinical outcomes and professional development while working with the OBGYN Department Chair to assure that the department is appropriately represented at the Medical Executive Committee. Responsible for the professional and ethical well-being of the departmental medical staff; handling identified breaches of professionalism in conjunction with Department Chair.

Accountabilities include:

• Oversees departmental quality and patient safety initiatives; appoints departmental representation to MSPIC and other system quality councils. Oversees departmental clinical outcomes and organizes a process for systematic periodic review.
• Oversees the credentialing and maintenance of certification of all departmental medical staff to include Ongoing and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE and FPPE).
• Assures appropriate faculty development offerings targeted at clinical outcomes are available for departmental medical staff; appoints departmental representation to the CMEC
• As directed by the Department Chair, assures appropriate representation of the department at MEC
• Monitors and oversees the professional conduct of the departmental medical staff; manages breaches in professionalism and identifies risk management opportunities
• Maintains clinical practice sufficient to assure clinical competence, obtain direct observations, provide professional credibility, and enhance social fabric.
