Enhance and improve the quality of spine care through involvement in the American Spine Registry

Project or Volunteer Experience Requirements

• AANS Member (FAANS, Provisional or Candidate)
• No more than 15 years out of training
• Ability to use social media and peer-to-peer networks to actively promote and encourage involvement in the American Spine Registry throughout the year
• Familiarity with spine medical coding and EHR data systems
• Interest in clinical research and publications
• Capable Editor/Writer
• Clinical trial knowledge
• Familiarity with regulatory issues (EU MDR and FDA requirements, CMS priorities, MVPs), a plus

Project Description

The NPA American Spine Registry (ASR) Steering Committee is involved in marketing, measurement and reporting, and identifying key registry data with the goal to maximize involvement in ASR and positively impact the future of spine care. AANS members, with fewer than 15 years out from training, looking to become involved in neurosurgical spine registry and quality improvement efforts are encouraged to apply to potentially join the committee.

Project Tasks

1. Attend committee meetings and contribute to assigned projects for a 12-month committee term.
2. Support ASR marketing efforts via peer-to-peer promotion; using social media and other appropriate distribution channels to expand markets
3. Write clinically relevant content for articles and newsletters
4. Inform clinically impactful registry measures, based on knowledge of institutional outcomes and payer outcome priorities
5. Help identify growing clinical hot topic areas within spine care

Project Commitment and Timeline

• Time Commitment: 12 month committee term (avg. of 4-5 hours/month)
• Volunteer Selection: Ongoing
