Pathologist

University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, is seeking a Full-Time Pathologist to practice in the second-busiest hospital of a 13-hospital system.

Job Specifics:

• 3 full-time hospital-employed pathologists
• General surgical and cytopathology signout
• 1:3 weekly equitable call schedule
• Frequent collaborations and initiatives with surgeons, oncologists, Critical Care, and Emergency Department, with whom the department has a friendly rapport
• Complex oncologic cases, with on-site cancer center
• Leadership opportunities
• No autopsies
• No GYN cytopathology
• Anticipated AP case expansion with insourcing
• Opportunities to collaborate within the system/systematize
• Clinical pathology duties include coverage of chemistry, microbiology/molecular, point-of-care, coagulation, referral testing, hematology, and/or transfusion medicine for a lab which performs approximately 1 million tests/year
• The lab is accredited by CAP, CLIA, AABB, and JCAHO

Requirements:

• Must be AP/CP board certified by the American Board of Pathology
• Solid foundational knowledge of core lab functions
• Soft skills on par with technical skills
• Fellowship training highly preferred
• Prior work experience in a hospital highly preferred
