Opportunity

At Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle, we are excited to begin a search for a fellowship trained minimally invasive Spine Surgeon to start Fall 2022 or later. We are seeking a highly motivated surgeon, with the goal of a focused outpatient spine practice.  Fellowship training in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine techniques are required for this job position.  There are opportunities for hospital-based spine surgeries but with the expansion of our ASC, outpatient spine is the focus of our future practice.

Our current partners are all fellowship-trained at many of the top institutions in the US, and range in age and scope of practice, covering adult reconstruction, complex sports medicine, shoulder and elbow, hand surgery, complex surgery of the hip and knee, and foot and ankle.  Many of our partners have a wide patient network in the PNW and see many referrals from far outside the referral network of Seattle.  Most of this is given their extensive subspecialty expertise, which we would expect from our incoming spine surgeon once their practice is built.  We feel that a significant opportunity exists within our region and referral network for a minimally invasive spine surgeon to rapidly grow an active private practice.  Currently, there is a lack of minimally invasive / endoscopic spine surgeons in the Seattle area, we would expect a rapid gain in practice with this skill set.

About Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle (OSS)

OSS is a care center within the Proliance Surgeons system.  Proliance is an entirely physician-owned and managed corporation, consisting of 250 orthopedists, general surgeons, ophthalmologist, urologists, OBGYN and ENT specialists in 100 Care Centers throughout the Puget Sound area.  While our size allows us to competitively contract with our local insurance carriers, physician ownership and management results in an excellent amount of local autonomy at the Care Center level.  A new associate would be potentially eligible for shareholder status in the corporation upon ABOS certification.

We staff two clinics in the Seattle area, and own and operate our own surgery center and MRI facilities.  A new associate would be placed on partnership track with the hope that they would be able to be fully participatory in those facilities within 2-3 years of starting with us.

We admit patients to an excellent hospital system, Swedish Medical.  A majority of hospital-based spine procedures would be done at the highly regarded Swedish Seattle Orthopedic Institute, 15 minutes from our main office.   We are compensated on a per diem basis for Emergency Room call, and this would be available as a good revenue source for an associate starting a practice. All partners share group/weekend and trauma call, which is at a Level 3 acuity.

Seattle is a wonderful city, recognized internationally as having an outstanding quality of life.  One can sit in the opera on Friday evening, and drive 40 minutes to skiing Saturday morning.  Our partners all enjoy a variety of outdoor and indoor hobbies with their families.
