The Department of Neurosurgery at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health Children s Hospital is seeking a fulltime Pediatric Neurosurgeon. The position will include a faculty appointment in the Penn State College of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure track or tenure/tenure track), depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Penn State Health Children s Hospital offers the only comprehensive pediatric neurosurgical program in central Pennsylvania. The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery provides both inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care for the full scope of childhood neurosurgical diagnoses. Clinical programs include multidisciplinary teams in adult and pediatric neurooncology, rehabilitation, pathology, and radiation oncology, as well as subspecialty clinics for the care of patients with spinal dysraphisms, spasticity and neurofibromatosis. The latest technologies and services are available including, high-field strength MRI, neuroendovascular therapies, advanced brain mapping, intraoperative imaging, responsive neural stimulation, operative robotics, and neuroendoscopy.
The Penn State Department of Neurosurgery is committed to the constant pursuit of excellence in the care of patients of all ages through adoption of the latest techniques, training, and technology. The department is home to an ACGME accredited residency program with three residents per year as well as CAST accredited fellowships in CNS Endovascular, Functional and Stereotactic Surgery, Neurocritical Care, Neurosurgical Oncology, Spinal Neurosurgery, and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. Penn State Neurosurgery faculty are heavily engaged in clinical and translational research, and the department ranks in the top twenty among neurosurgical programs nationally for NIH funding.
Requirements
- MD, MD/PhD, DO or equivalent degree
- BC/BE Neurosurgery with completion of Pediatric Neurosurgery fellowship
- A track record of academic productivity and clinical excellence is required
- Ability to acquire a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania
- Must be able to obtain valid federal and state narcotics certificates
