The Charleston Area Medical Center Institute for Academic Medicine is seeking to recruit an interventional cardiology fellowship program director.  This opportunity involves joining an elite cardiology team and participating in the formative years of an ACGME accredited interventional cardiology fellowship program.

The Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is a 958-bed academic medical center with over 700 physicians and is central/southern West Virginia’s top tertiary health care provider.  CAMC has enjoyed a rich history of innovation in the field of cardiovascular intervention and today remains one of the highest volume interventional programs in the US.  CAMC was one of the first centers in the nation to embrace a multidisciplinary care model including a team of cardiothoracic surgery, coronary interventional, cardiac anesthesiology and structural intervention experts with floating members from other disciplines as needed.   The interventional program is supported by professionals with advanced cardiac imaging skills in CT, MR, TEE and ECHO.    The CAMC Heart and Vascular Center offers state-of-the-art advanced imaging and intensive care unit facilities with interventional infrastructure that includes 8 catherization labs, 3 dedicated vascular interventional labs, a new hybrid OR and 3 EP labs.

Under the auspices of the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, CAMC is a growing academic medical center sponsoring 14 accredited medical residencies and fellowship programs.    Home to two regional medical school campuses, CAMC hosts 160 3rd and 4th year medical students and provides clinical education experiences to over 1500 allied health professionals in training annually.   A new Center for Learning and Research is under construction and will house a 14,000 square foot simulation center and other facilities dedicated to our education and research programs.

Requirements:

  • MD/DO from an accredited university medical school
  • Three years teaching/academic experience in an ACGME Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease or Interventional Cardiology program
  • Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
  • Ability to obtain a West Virginia state medical license and DEA

Demonstrated interest and passion for advancing the art and science of interventional cardiology in an academic setting. The ideal candidate would have a high-volume experience in performing complex coronary interventional procedures and utilization of contemporary advanced interventional technologies.

This dynamic opportunity offers protected academic time/effort, a competitive guaranteed base salary, paid time away from the practice, 401K retirement plan, occurrence-based malpractice insurance, CME allowance, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Charleston is beautiful city nestled alongside a river between the WV mountains and is considered a culturally prosperous community with small town living without sacrificing the amenities found in a large metropolitan city.   Housing is affordable in a community-oriented locale. This area is a vibrant academic and professional community that offers a balanced professional career and a fulfilling personal lifestyle.

Interested candidates should send a copy of their curriculum vitae and three references along with a supplemental narrative statement to address their qualifications (2‐3 pages) by May 15, 2022
