Moffitt Cancer Center is conducting an international search for the Chair of its Supportive Care Medicine Department.  The candidate should be an accomplished, nationally recognized leader with a strong clinical and academic reputation in the field of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. This dynamic program integrates experts from multiple disciplines including palliative, behavioral, and integrative medicine with the goal of easing patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges associated with cancer and cancer treatments. The Department Chair is responsible for setting and effectively executing a vision for the future of the Department, providing leadership to physicians and advanced practice professionals (APPs) supporting them in achieving their clinical and academic goals as well as championing the well-being of the entire Department. Additionally, the Chair leads and facilitates faculty’s active participation in clinical research and education. The Chair is responsible for the overall performance of the Department, including clinical productivity, academic endeavors, cutting edge research, mission alignment, quality of care provision, and budgetary stewardship.

The Department of Supportive Care Medicine is a multidisciplinary program comprised of 13 faculty members (four PhD Clinical Psychologists, two Psychiatrists, seven Hospice/Palliative Care physicians) and eight supportive care     medicine APPs. This department has a solid inpatient and outpatient presence and continues to expand programs in both settings. Furthermore, the Supportive Care Medicine Department provides dedicated educational curriculums for medical students, residents, fellows, as well as graduate students from the University of South Florida. Moffitt Cancer Center focuses on innovative research leading to improved patient outcomes, and is committed to the expansion of research collaboration between the Department of Supportive Care Medicine and other departments within the Cancer Center. 

Requirements: Candidate must have a Florida Medical License or be eligible for one, an MD or DO degree, and be board certified. Must have a minimum of 7 years experience as a medical practitioner with experience in clinical care, research and education in an academic medical center setting. Leadership qualities, including strategic vision, are essential
