Job Details
This position is located in the Department of Medicine at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX.
A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Clinical Director of the Department of Medicine.
- Assist the Deputy Commander of Medical Services with coordination of the quality of care through assistance and support provided by the Department of Medicine to the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Perform various supervisory tasks such as making final selections, taking disciplinary action, hearing and resolving complaints and group grievances, explaining new policies, and gaining support for various management programs.
- Provide comprehensive medical care to patients, the nature of the cases may range from minor illnesses to those of a very serious nature.
- Examine patients, make diagnoses, and administer appropriate treatment.
- Request laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures necessary to complete medical facts on the case.
Qualifications
US Citizen
Board Certified Family Medicine
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
