The Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition at Rush University System for Health is recruiting two (2) Inpatient Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Providers and one (1) Interventional Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider to join their team at Rush University Medical Center and one (1) Inpatient Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider to join their Rush Oak Park team.

*Applicants with previous experience in Gastroenterology preferred but not required.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Systems for Health within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. This position will primarily be located at Rush University Medical Center to support the inpatient gastroenterology service. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With 2 Directors of Advanced Practice and 27 Lead APPs across the system, Rush’s vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license. More specifically, the gastroenterology team within Digestive Diseases is comprised of 6 APPs. The Addition of APP’s is part of the vision to expand an already exceptional gastroenterology clinical team. APPs at Rush are highly competent, well respected members of the healthcare team that contribute to the excellent quality care that Rush patients receive each day.


The RUSH Digestive Diseases and Nutrition’s section of gastroenterology is comprised of faculty physicians, APPs, researchers, nurses, procedure schedulers, clinical coordinators, and other ancillary team members joining forces to provide comprehensive care to patients. Subspecialty programs include general, esophageal, inflammatory bowel, interventional, pelvic floor, and other multidisciplinary collaborations. The team also boasts a robust clinical trials and research initiatives. Therefore, APPs are viewed as integral members of the provider team in providing clinical care and the advancements in the subspecialty. Additionally, the team also has a strong partnership with APP training programs in an effort to develop the future generation of providers in the subspecialty.
