The section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital is seeking an intensivist to join our team to provide Critical Care coverage at its Milford Campus. This opportunity is for 26 weeks of coverage yearly on a 7-on, 7-off schedule. EEO/AA/Disability/VeteranResponsibilities The Milford Campus of Bridgeport Hospital (part of the Yale New Haven Health System) is a 100-bed acute care hospital with a 10-bed ICU with a typical census of 6-8 patients. A broad spectrum of critical illness is encountered. Transfer to Bridgeport Hospital or Yale New Haven Hospital is easily accomplished if necessary for more advanced levels of care. Overnight coverage from 7 PM to 7 AM is provided by tele-ICU services staffed by Yale New Haven Hospital intensivists. Procedural coverage overnight is provided by Emergency Medicine.Bridgeport Hospital is a 400-bed hospital affiliated with the Yale New Haven Health System. It sponsors a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship program. Although participation in this program is not a requirement of this position, opportunities to be involved in teaching and research would be available if desired. Qualifications
EDUCATIONMD, DO or equivalent; ACGME accredited internal medicine residency and critical care medicine fellowship programs. Must be board certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine. LICENSUREAs above; also, eligible to be licensed in the state of CT.SPECIAL SKILLSAll those procedures expected of an Intensivist. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine and have a license to practice in Connecticut. Procedural requirements include the placement of central venous catheters and arterial lines, endotracheal intubation, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture.PHYSICAL DEMANDMMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids.
