Senior faculty position in Prostate Cancer Research
Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Indianapolis.
Indiana University seeks application for mid or senior level faculty member to develop and maintain a translational program in prostate cancer. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program in association with the clinicians in medical oncology and urology. Areas of research expertise of particular interest include cancer genetics or biology, molecular epidemiology, and cancer imaging and therapeutics.
The candidate will join a rigorous prostate cancer clinical research program supported by the Division of Medical Oncology and the Department of Urology at IU School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed as a faculty member within both the Department of Urology and the most appropriate basic science department. Collaboration with other investigators, and participation in center and department activities is expected. It is critical that this scientist have and maintain active collaborations with the clinical cancer scientists within medical
oncology and urology.
The position includes an appointment as full-time faculty, at the Full or Associate Professor level commensurate with experience, in a basic and/or clinical science department.
This researcher will have available to them a large repository of fully annotated tissue and serum from early and late-stage prostate cancer from the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center tissue biorepository. This biobank includes 3,000 frozen and paraffin embedded tissue specimens and 1,000 plasma and blood samples which available to the researcher at reduced rates. Access is also available to the Indiana University Genitourinary Program biorepository, which includes over 180 patients with advanced prostate cancer who have provided
research access to fully annotated clinical information and prospective serial tissue and blood samples. The I.U. urologic oncology program has been highly successful through a joint effort by oncology and urology, enrolling over 650 patients on investigator initiated trials, cooperative group trials, early phase trials, and correlative studies in the past 5 years. We are looking for a basic scientist to further expand this program.
