Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for the academic position of Medical Legal Project Coordinator. This is a full-time, one-year term position. Under the general direction of Weill Cornell Medicine’s Global Health in Anesthesiology and Cornell Law School Medical Legal Project Directors, this position provides programmatic, outreach, research, and grant-seeking and grant-writing support for the Weill Cornell Medicine/Cornell Law School Medical Legal Project. The role coordinates all aspects of programs locally and abroad, and liaises with national partners, international colleagues, and donors. Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and leads medical-legal projects and research.
  • Provides logistical support to medical legal project faculty and students; prepares outreach materials, works with community partners on all aspects of providing medical-legal services.
  • Identifies funding opportunities, coordinates and drafts funding proposals and reports, manages all aspects of stewardship including fulfilling requests for updates, donation use and accountability, prepping principals, or attending meetings.
  • Manages all budget aspects, including grant budgets, and acts as liaison to the University and Medical School budget and finance offices.
  • Manages public relations for the program faculty members and students. Acting as liaison with External Affairs Offices at the University and Medical College.  Coordinates interviews, print media, press releases, social media activity, promotional videos and/or website maintenance. Ensures legal compliance with appropriate and accurate disclosures.
  • Assists with the preparation of program written/print materials such as manuscript editing and formatting, poster preparation, and flyer editing.
  • Assists in recruiting and managing student research assistants.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

Education

• Advanced degree in related field

Experience

Approximately 3 years of related experience coordinating specialty programs.

Background in medicine, law, social sciences, anthropology, public health, global health, public policy, or human rights is desired.

  • Requires excellent ability to independently problem solve.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Experience communicating across language and cultural difference.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to a new environment and remain flexible as changing needs arise.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation and demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
