The Department of Rehabilitative Medicine, New York Medical College is currently seeking a PM&R Physician to serve as Director of the Inpatient Rehab Division at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Metropolitan Hospital is the primary training site for New York Medical College’s PM&R residency program, and a primary clinical rotation site for the school’s third- and fourth-year medical students. The position will be responsible for medical direction of the 20-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit, attending coverage and supervision/training of the PGY2 residents and medical students assigned to the bed service, and supervision of a multidisciplinary team of therapists, nurses, social worker’s and the unit’s psychologist. Successful candidate will work closely with the Department’s Director of Operations on inpatient program development, marketing, process improvement, and optimization of the division’s performance metrics. The position will also oversee the PM&R inpatient consult service and supervise/train residents rotating through the service. This is a clinical leadership role and will report directly to the Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine. The inpatient division director will receive an academic appointment at the assistant or associate professor level, Clinician-Educator pathway, in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, New York Medical College. Qualified candidates will also be considered for the position of residency program director or associate residency program director, depending on prior training and level of experience. 

Qualifications include:

  • Active NYS license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Training in PM&R
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible 
  • A passion to work with the underserved
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
