The Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Service is looking for a dynamic and committed leader to join our team at VA Northern California HCS as our Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine. This position will be located at the Sacramento VA Medical Center, Mather, CA. Opportunity for Volunteer Clinical Professor appointment with our academic affiliate UC Davis.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Nuclear Medicine (NM) is a Section of Radiology. The NM Section Chief reports to the Chief of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine. The NM Section consists of two full-time physicians including Section Chief and intermittent physicians at both major sites for vacation coverage. Acts as first line supervisor of Chief Technologist, and second line supervisor of seven staff technologists and two Medical Support Assistants (MSA). Oversees operations at three sites where NM is practiced. Two VA sites and one Sharing Agreement Facility. There is a total of five (5) SPECT CT Scanners and one PET CT.

Responsible for protocoling studies and interpretation of NM studies. Must have expertise in all areas of Nuclear Medicine including basic Nuclear Medicine, SPECT CT, PET -CT and Nuclear Medicine Therapy. Beneficial to have knowledge and experience in Nuclear Medicine Theranostic approach. Must have ACLS and be able to perform and supervise physiologic and pharmacologic stress testing of Nuclear Cardiology procedures. Serves as local physician supervisor for Nuclear Medicine Stanford --VA Palo Alto affiliated Technologist training program. Participates as member of the VANCHCS Radiation Safety Committee and facility Tumor Board.

WORK SCHEDULE: 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:30, no on-call responsibilities

CANDIDATE MUST BE: 1) US Citizen, 2) Board Eligible with the American Board of Nuclear Medicine or have a certificate of special competence in Nuclear Radiology by the American Board of Radiology, and 3) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any state. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine

INCENTIVES: Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers up to $200,000 over 5-years, tax-free and/or Recruitment Incentive with minimum 3-year service obligation. Eligibility to apply for EDRP does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Approval of EDRP awards are subject to the availability of funding and other qualifying factors.

BENEFITS: 208 hours (5.2 weeks) paid vacation (full-time physicians earn 8 hours each pay period upon employment/part-time physicians earn 1 hour of vacation leave for every 10 hours worked); 104 hours (2.6 weeks) paid sick leave (full-time physicians earn 4 hours pay period upon employment, no cap) /part-time physicians earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 20 hours worked); 11 paid Federal holidays (any time clinics are closed you get time-off with pay and does not come out of paid vacation); Competitive Salary; Annual Physician Performance Pay; Malpractice protection with tail coverage covered by the Federal government; CME- 1 week paid authorized absence to attend and after 1 year of employment $1,000 per year stipend toward CME if BC (does not come out of paid vacation/time is pro-rated for part-time staff); No Physician Employment Contract; no significant restriction on moonlighting
