The Role

The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for developing and executing a long-term strategic plan to ensure the global health of the organization. This position will educate the organization regarding on-going medical trends, identify and deliver significant projects to support wellness or associate health and acts as a trusted liaison to the executive team in matters of health, wellness and programs supporting adjacent areas.  As an experience professional with recognized expertise, the Chief Medical Officer will lead with insight which integrates and draws from the fields of occupational medicine, international health management and preventative heal, public health, healthcare, and well-being.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive an evidence-based health risk management and wellness strategy in line with business need through well-developed initiatives, and successful implementation and continuous improvement across the global organization
  • Provide routine consultation to Total Rewards regarding benefit plan design, health provider contracting, and PPO network credentialing, with emphasis on quality, evidence-based and cost-effective care, maximal patient adherence to therapy and best outcomes
  • Provide medical expertise in business and corporate priorities, including risk and crises management
  • Act as focal point for executive health, including options for external evaluation, internal health promotion, and case expertise
  • Collaborate with EHS&S and Workers’ Compensation for safety/health/ergonomics, risk aversion, and emergency medical management
  • Execute world-class health programming, with appropriate allocation of resources in line with the company’s needs and affordability model

Ideal Experience

Candidates should bring the following Critical Experiences:

  • Medical degree and license to practice medicine in the U.S. is required; Board Certification in Occupational Health, and Internal Medicine and/or Family Practice is required. Ability to obtain Ohio license(s) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a large, global industrial (preferably manufacturing) organization with responsibility for health management
  • Designed, implemented, and led health management programs for a large scale, global matrix environment
  • Experience working with businesses to develop strategic health management plans and define a business case/value proposition for proposals
  • Experience in building relationships with senior SBU and functional leaders
  • Strong project management competency; Track record of implementing major capital or transformation projects
  • Experience in managing international health risks, crisis situations, developing evidence-based programming, and teaming with professionals internally and externally
  • Experience leading and motivating a team across a diverse geographic and cultural landscape with direct and indirect authority
  • Experience managing cost center financials and teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of legal/regulatory impact on associate health management
