Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences will serve as a leader for the department to assure that inclusion, equity and diversity issues are at the forefront of departmental decision making. The leader will be aware and will assess all activities conducted by the department through the lens of inclusion, equity and diversity.
The Director of DEI will develop a strategy to transform the organizational culture to ensure accountability and a visible commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. They will be responsible for developing a work environment and business decisions that foster an environment where all faculty and employees can operate at the top of their potential. While each leader and employee in the department is responsible for individual action, the role of the Director of DEI will be to lead, coordinate, track, measure, and assess the collective efforts of the department with regard to DEI issues. The Director of DEI will play an important role in faculty, fellow and resident recruitment.
