UMass Memorial Health is the health and wellness partner of the people of Central Massachusetts, the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts, and the clinical partner of UMass Chan Medical School. In addition to our fully equipped medical centers, our system also includes home health and hospice partners, behavioral health programs and community-based physician practices.

The Division of Palliative Care at UMass Memorial Medical Center and the UMass Chan Medical School seeks an Academic Palliative Care physician to join their collegial team.
  • We are a well-established and highly productive interdisciplinary team of 4 faculty and 4 providing inpatient and outpatient consultation services for a diverse patient population in a dynamic teaching environment.
  • UMass Memorial Health’s plan to become a fully integrated health system encompassing academic tertiary care and population health will create significant opportunity for future palliative care program growth in the community.
  • Our Division enjoys a close collaboration with hospital medicine, oncology, critical care, primary care and other disciplines in generalist palliative care education and quality improvement projects.
  • We offer multiple opportunities to train medical students, residents and other subspecialty fellows. Our new Palliative Medicine fellowship has its first full-time fellow this academic year!
  • Clinical and medical education research in collaboration with multiple academic departments and divisions
  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience
  • We are partnered with the Schwartz Center for Compassion in Healthcare and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to promote humanism and resiliency in medicine.
  • The Division works closely with the medical center and ACO in building inpatient and community-based palliative care.
  • Statewide collaborative led by UMass Chan Medical School to ensure all students graduate with foundational skills in serious illness communication:
  • BE/BC Palliative Medicine preferred. Training in Vital Talk and/or Serious Illness Care Program attractive but not required.
