Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine NYC and NYC Suburbs
The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible MD or DO Physician to join our team as Assistant Director of Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine at North Shore University Hospital (a Quaternary Hospital located in Long Island, NY) and Director of our reference Immunohematology Laboratory (located within the Core Laboratories in Lake Success, NY). Required qualifications include American Board of Pathology (ABP) certification in Clinical Pathology; accredited fellowship training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine with ABP certification/eligibility in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. The preferred individuals would have demonstrated potential leadership skills and teamwork abilities. - Provide safe, visible, and accessible clinical services in a quaternary hospital transfusion and therapeutic apheresis service in support of hematology, oncology, trauma, solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplants, neurology and obstetrical patients.
- Provide effective directorship of a reference immunohematology laboratory, including clinical interactions with referring providers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, AABB, New York State Department of Health, FDA and other regulatory agencies.
- Interact with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Transfusion Medicine Service Line.
