Division Chief Hand Surgery- University of Rochester
The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester seeks applicants for the position of Chief, Division of Hand Surgery. The successful candidate will hold a CAQ in Hand Surgery and will be board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. Candidates with an academic career trajectory who are committed to leadership are encouraged to apply. Applicants must qualify for appointment to the School of Medicine faculty as an Associate Professor or Professor.
The Division is comprised of 7 surgeons and 8 advanced practice providers, providing care at two hospitals, 2 ambulatory surgery centers and across 9 clinic sites in the greater Rochester, NY region. The major hospital is Strong Memorial Hospital, a regional Level I trauma center and an ACS Regional Hand Trauma designated referral center. The Department of Orthopaedics has 42 full-time faculty, 58 advanced practice providers and approximately 620 staff. The Department is currently constructing a state-of-the-art musculoskeletal outpatient center extending to 330,000 square feet with 8 operating rooms, 4 procedure rooms and 144 exam rooms, as well as advanced imaging, motion analysis and advanced therapy including a dedicated hand therapy suite.
The Division and the Department have a rich academic tradition. There are 40 orthopaedic surgery residents, many of whom have traditionally been interested in hand surgery, and an ACGME accredited hand surgery fellowship. The University of Rochester is committed to patient reported outcomes and actively collects PROMIS on all our patients. Our PRO database contains data on close to 300,000 patients. The Department’s Center for Musculoskeletal Research has been among the top 5 NIH-funded orthopaedic research groups for more than 20 years. Many clinical faculty have created highly productive research collaborations with one of the 16 full-time scientists in the CMSR.
